Obituary:

Eldor (Al) W. Thaete, 90 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO.  He was born on May 26, 1922 in Lebanon, KS the son of Paul and Marie (Hansen) Thaete.  He graduated with salutatorian honors from Lebanon High School in 1940.  He then attended and completed almost two years of college at Ft. Hay’s State College and the University of Kansas.  In 1942 he joined the US Army where he would serve four years in the Medical Department.

Eldor was a registered assistant chief surveyor for the US Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs from 1961 to 1963 and was then promoted to chief surveyor until 1965 before reentering the private sector from 1965 to 1969.  Eldor and his wife, Ruth moved to Missouri where he worked as a party chief in the field until 1981.

Eldor had a strong belief in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.  We rejoice knowing he is resting from his labors and is in Heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ.  He had made his home in Douglas County for many years and at the time of his passing he was a resident of the Autumn Oaks Rehabilitation Center.

Eldor was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 28 years, Ruth Mueller Sharp Thaete; and three brothers, Oscar Thaete, Hilbert Thaete and Harold Thaete.  He is survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
