Obituary:
Alvin C. York Noirfalise, 92, of Cabool, MO passed away suddenly Sunday January 22, 2012, in his home.
York was the youngest son of Clara (Hall) and Frank Noirfalise born on June 14, 1919 in the Blackjack Community. York was named after a WWI war hero Alvin C. York.
York was united in marriage to Phyllis R. Kilpatric on March 26, 1939. They had three sons, Ted, Ronnie and Terry. He farmed on the family farm until he started his own milk route in approximately 1942. In 1946, York and Phyllis sold their farm and built their home at 813 Garst in Cabool, which is where they lived until their passing.
In 1946 is when they moved to Cabool and started a painting, papering and floor-sanding business, which led to the beginning of Noirfalise Paint and Carpet. They worked at their business until York became superintendant at Wedgewood Country Club around 1981. He continued to work there for many years even long after his "retirement".
York was a pillar of the community; he served on the city council for many years, as well as Mayor of Cabool back in 1963.
He loved being around the golf course, playing and working. He kept his enthusiasm for golf and continued to play up until he was 91. He won many golfing awards, one of which was the oldest golfer in the SW office of aging tournament for 10+ years. Later in life he would play pool in the mornings at the Cabool Senior Center year round and golf in the afternoons.
York was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; his parents, Frank J and Clara (Hall); his sisters, Goldie (McCalla), Fern (Gallup) and Helen (Elliott); and brothers, Forrest, Harold and Wallace. He is survived by three sons, Ted and wife, Kathy of Cabool, Ron and wife, Pat of Florida and Terry and wife, Lorrie of Cabool; six grandchildren, Kim and husband Tim Tribolet, David Noirfalise and wife, Lynn of Raymore, Missouri, Jonathan Noirfalise and wife, Brandi of Springfield, Missouri, Angie and husband, Kevin Bye of Cabool, Jack Noirfalise of Cabool, Ryan and wife, Jamie of Hazelwood, Missouri; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jordan Noirfalise, Markus Rader and Cathryn Bye of Cabool, Trenton, Maecy, Brody Noirfalise, Hunter Sparks of Cabool, Nicholas and Emily Tribolet of Raymore, Mckenna and Preslee Noirfalise of Raymore, Abby Noirfalise of Cassville and Grace O'Neal of Springfield. York loved all of his family and friends; he lived life to the fullest extent and will be greatly missed by all.
