Obituary:

Anna Mae Sain, 87 of Cabool, MO. passed away at 11:55pm on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO. She was born on Aug. 14, 1925, at Cowell, AR, to James Allen and Lillie (Lambdin) Smith, the oldest of seven children. When Anna Mae was 12, her mother died and the children lived with their Uncle Lee and Aunt Laura Lambdin.

On Oct. 2, 1942, Anna Mae married Ervin Elisha Rich, and to this union, one son was born – James Ervin (J.E.) Rich. After Ervin was killed in the Leyte Islands on Oct. 23, 1944, Anna married Frank Sain on Jan. 19, 1946. To this union, one daughter was born – Pat (Sain) Beck.

After Ervin's death, Anna Mae returned to school and graduated from Deer High School in 1945, becoming the first member of her family to graduate from high school. In 1948, Anna Mae and Frank moved to Elk Creek. She worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Cabool until her retirement, and she and Frank milked cows.

Anna Mae loved the Lord and had read the Bible all the way through multiple times. She attended church at Bethel Bible Church in Elk Creek, Mo., as often as she was able. She loved to garden, fish and
crochet. In 2006, after a great-granddaughter was born prematurely, Anna Mae began crocheting baby and children's hats and had donated at least 1,000 hats to area hospitals, schools and individuals since that time. In the week before her death, she had used nearly all of the three skeins of yarn she received for Christmas, making at least two more hats the day she died.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; two young sisters, Edna Lavoy Smith and Edith Fay Smith; one brother, James Smith; and sisters Joyce Ellis and Danace Phillips. She is survived by her son, J.E. Rich and wife, Fran, of Elk Creek; her daughter, Pat Beck and husband, Ed, of Cabool; and a sister, Carol Lynch of Newark, Calif. She also is survived by five grandchildren, Lee Beck and wife Karen of Cabool; Steve Rich and wife Ella of Doha, Qatar; Teresa (Beck) Garrett and husband, Kent of Big Piney, Mo.; Kim (Rich) Wehmer and husband, David of Willow Springs; and Chris (Rich)  Cobb and husband, Michael of Montgomery City, Mo. Further surviving her are two sisters-in-law, Niva Faught of Deer, Ark., and Lorene Smith of Harrison, Ark.; 11 great-grandchildren – Lee Ann Beck, Kasey, Kaitin, Kailey and Karson Garrett, Morgan Rich, Holly and Heidi Wehmer, and Anna, Joshua and Leah Cobb; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins,  neighbors and friends.
