Arley Ellis, 80 1/2, of Mountain Grove passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri following a brave battle with congestive heart failure. He was born on October 21, 1929 near the Wright County community of Rayborn, Missouri. He was the youngest of nine children born to John W. and Mary Jane (Carder) Ellis.Arley grew up in the Green Mountain community of Wright County and attend school at Green Forest. He was united in marriage to Geneva (Williams) on June 6, 1954 at Fowler Church. Five children were born to this union.Arley and Geneva attended several area churches where he played his guitar and sang. Arley was a successful businessman. He owned a large dairy farm north of Mountain Grove, Ellis Red Fox Grocery in Norwood, Northside Market in Bolivar, then Arley's Used Cars in Mountain Grove.Besides his parents, Arley was preceded in death by one son: Terry Ellis; one granddaughter, Justine Ellis; six brothers: Arch, John, Bert, Bill, Arno and Paul; and two sisters: May and Ava.He is survived by his loving wife Geneva of the home; a son: Arley (A.J.) Ellis and his wife, Lori of Bolivar; three daughters: Diana Young and her husband Gerald, of the state of Hawaii; Elaine Laird, of Mansfield; and Martha Newton and her husband Berle (Bud) Newton of Mountain Grove; six grandchildren: Earnest Arley (E.A) Royal, Jennifer Ikei, Sarah Jones, Abby Stark, Caitlin Ellis and Molly Laird; seven great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.Graveside services for Arley Ellis were held Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. in the Green Mountain Cemetery, north of Mountain Grove, with the Rev. James Rogers and Pastor Paul Chateauvert officiating. Pallbearers were J.W. Ellis, Jeff Jones, Terry Kelley, Mark Ellis, Bud Newton and E.A. Royal. Honorary pallbearers were Diana Young, Martha Newton, Lori Ellis, Sarah Jones, Abby Stark, Caitlin Ellis, Molly Laird, Chris Laird and Greg Ellis. Services were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, MO.
