Obituary

Arlin Dale Davis passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, MO at the age of 96. He was born August 11, 1928, in Clara, MO to John C. & Fannie (Pollard) Davis.

When he was 18, he followed his older brother, Charlie, to Stockton, California where they operated a Service Station together that Charlie had purchased in 1946, after he returned from serving in the Military. He met Freda Young in 1947, and they were married on September 25, 1948. They shared 25 years and 3 children together, before divorcing in 1973. Arlin then moved to Florida, to reconnect with his childhood sweetheart, Norma. They soon married, and after a few years, decided on an amicable divorce. Arlin returned to Manteca, California, to be with his family again. Soon after, he married long-time friend, Betty (Swain). They remained together for several years, moving back and forth between Cabool, Missouri and Manteca, until Betty passed away. Arlin soon returned to his beloved Cabool, where he met Eunice Havens. They became inseparable companions and resided at his home on Maple Street, until his health declined, and the decision as made to relocate him to the Nursing Home. Thanks to her daughter Janice, Eunice was able to visit him regularly. They would often bring his little dog, "Puppy" to visit which would always make him smile. Janice was in constant contact with his family in California, providing regular updates on his health and sharing him on Facebook. Many of his children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, made the trip to Willow Springs to visit him over the years.

Arlin was an extremely hard worker all his life. He was a mechanic by trade and later worked for many years as a service manager for several dealerships. In his younger days, he also spent many hours after work helping friends and neighbors with their vehicles. After retirement he bought many investment properties in both Cabool and Mountain Grove and spent his time repairing, renovating, and managing those properties until his health deteriorated.

Arlin was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Norma, and third wife, Betty; sisters, Bertha Davis, Cora Frisbee, Nellie Mead, Velma Mead, Hazel Noel, Ruby Davis and Esther Hobbs; brothers, John, Jasper, Alfred, Albert, Charlie, Bill and Eugene Davis.
