Obituary:

Arnold Ray Elliot was born in Mentor, Minnesota, the son of George J. Elliot and Millie H. Steefer on September 3 rd , 1921. He left this life on March 6 th , 2013 at the age of 91 ½.

Ray was married to Irene Rutledge on March 2 nd , 1942. This union produced Arnold C. Elliot, Harold W. Elliot, David L. Elliot and Ann L. Elliot. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Judson and Frances Elliot and a great-great grandchild. He is survived by his former wife Irene; two sisters, Ila Donaldson of Kansas City, Missouri and Mary Mason of Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by his children, Arnold of Gravette, Arkansas, Harold and his wife, Roselyn of Kansas City, Missouri, David and his wife, Cindy of Norwood, Missouri and Ann and her husband, Ray Roach of Moberly, Missouri. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Ray (known as Razor by many) was a veteran of WW II and lived as a farmer in Wright county most of his life. He loved horses, hunting, and fishing and enjoyed the bantering of a good swap. He was probably best known for the smiles he gave to others with his funny poems and sayings, like, "I am just trying to do right". After retiring from the farm life he was employed by the Wright County Housing Authority and was nominated two years in a row and a semi -finalist for Missouri Older Worker of the year for 1992 and 1993.

Funeral services were at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the funeral chapel with Daniel Hull officiating. Pallbearers were Chris Penner, Daniel Hull, David Virtue, Jimmy Melton, Gary Carder and Chaston Elliot. Interment with full military honors was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Mtn. Grove, MO under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, MO.
