Beulah Faye (Rust) Hood, 90, was born on the family farm near Cabool, MO, on November 18, 1930. She lived her entire life in Cabool, and passed away in her home on March 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family members.
The daughter of Earl and Fannie (Bennett) Rust, Beulah grew up in the Shady Grove community, along with her two brothers, Gerald and Donald, and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Rust and Bennett families. She loved to share tales of the adventures and escapades the cousins enjoyed growing up together, and she treasured the extended family gatherings and reunions held through the years.
Beulah attended Cabool schools and graduated with the class of 1948. After graduation she worked at Davis Lumber Company and one of her duties included painting the street signs for the city of Cabool. She continued her work career as a secretary for Tindel Insurance Agency and then for Mid-America Dairymen, later known as DFA. She retired from DFA in 1996, after 31 years of faithful service.
Beulah thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Cabool community. She was a member of Cabool Christian Church, and was actively involved with the 60+ group, the Golden Agers, the Community Blood Drive, and her beloved Shady Grove Club. She was always happy to attend a community program, cultural event, or a school activity, or ball game.
On March 23, 1951, Beulah married Mert Hood, Jr., and to this union three children were born, Mike, Jerry, and Peggy. She and Mert were also blessed with nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Beulah dearly loved her family and was the proud hostess of many birthday parties, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. Traveling was a favorite past time, and she was always ready to jump in the car, boat, or airplane that would take her as near as Silver Dollar City, or as far as California, Hawaii, or Bolivia South America.
Attending the many concerts, dance recitals, plays, school programs, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, football, and basketball games her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchilren were participating in was always a top priority for her. She loved to support them, and cheer them on.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fannie; her husband, Mert and her two brothers, Gerald and Don. She is survived by her children: Mike and wife, Pat of Columbia, Jerry and wife, Anita of Cabool and Peggy and husband, Harold of Joplin. She is also survived by her sister in law, Lynn Rust of Cabool and her brothers in law, Rick Hood and wife, Pat of Springfield and Emmett Hood and wife, Pat. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, their spouses and her great-grandchildren: Jon, Melinda, Tyler, Brayden, and Jackson Hood of O'Fallon, Sarah, Esteban, Greg, Eliana, and Camila Pedrazas of Columbia, Daniel, Emily, Erin and Ellie Hood of Springfield, Amy, Collin, Peyton, Carolynn, and Blakely Lyerla of Forsyth, Curt, Kelli, Julia and Adelyn Hood of Fenton, Phil, Lissa, Hallie, Anna, and Camryn Spieckermann of Wichita, KS, Adam, Renee, Suzanne, and Eliza Spieckermann of Valencia, CA, Sally Spieckermann of Columbia, and Katie Spieckermann of Joplin. She will also be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and dear friends.
