Billie Jean Pierce Campbell, age 89, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at John Knox Village located in Lee's Summit, MO. She was born October 9, 1927 to Leonard Lee Pierce and Gladys House Pierce.
Billie Jean spent her childhood living in the Fairview and Bado communities attending the one-room Alice schoolhouse as well as Houston schools. She was united in marriage to Ray Bresler, living in San Diego, CA for several years where her dynamic daughter, Linda Gayle, was born. It was during this time she sang with the burgeoning gospel group, The Weatherfords, whom she remained friends with throughout the years.
Billie Jean resided a significant portion of her life in Kansas City, MO with her husband Richard Paul Campbell. Their union gave birth to the much loved daughter, Billie Reshard. In the bedroom community of Grandview, MO, Billie operated a hair salon serving a dedicated customer base eventually retiring and transforming her salon into a studio. A talented artist, she experimented in all mediums throughout her life and served as an influential factor in the artistic pursuits of both family and friends. Billie Jean was a consummate host and opened her home to traveling guests weekly. She was a person you were excited to see and sorry to have to leave; she was adored by many. Billie Jean embodied the Renaissance personality, always seeking new paths while never forgetting her traditional Ozark roots. Her life was one of great joy and great tragedy, but for certain her infectious laugh and honest personality will always be missed.
