Obituary:

Billie Bernice Kirkman Reaves, 89, of Cabool, died Monday September 7, 2015 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1926, on a farm near Raymondville, MO the daughter of O.D. Kirkman and Artie Cox Kirkman. Billie married Herschel Reaves on June 2, 1950 and to this union one child, James Donald Reaves was born.

Billie grew up in Cabool, attended Cabool Schools and went on to attend SMS in Springfield for three years. During World War II Billie spent a year in Iowa working alongside her sister Alta. She spent several years working at Producers Creamery in Cabool and worked three years at the City of Cabool. She spent many years as a home maker caring for her family.

Billie was a born again believer in Jesus Christ our Savior and attended the Cabool Christian Church from the age of three until her health prevented her regular attendance. She was a member of Women's council and served ten years on the bereavement committee. She enjoyed writing and sending cards to shut-ins and sick friends. She was always compassionate about others. If you knew Billie you knew that she was always worrying about someone else before herself.

Billie was the proudest Grandma ever, she loved spending time with her granddaughters, Julia and Jamie and great grandson, Jackson. They were the light of her life.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Reaves; her parents and five siblings, Wayne Kirkman, Lee Kirkman, Delmar Kirkman, Alta Reitemeyer and Marie Stroud. Survivors include her son, James Donald and wife, Janice Reaves; two grandchildren, Julia and Jamie Reaves; one great grandchild, Jackson all of Cabool; her brother, Don Kirkman of Gold Canyon, Arizona as well as many nieces and nephews.
