Obituary:

Blanche Johnson Allcorn died January 10, 2017.  She was born to Verdon and Susan Wilbanks Johnson on December 22, 1917 in Pontiac, Ozark County Missouri.  Shortly after her birth, her 2 year old brother, Hans, died of diphtheria and her Mother, Susan, died of influenza during WWI.  At that time, she went to live with her father's sister, Josephine and husband John Herd, at Isabella, MO.  Her younger years were spent with her wonderful family on their farm.

Blanche graduated from Gainesville High school in 1936.  She met and married the love of her life, Austin Allcorn, and they resided in Carter County Missouri where Austin worked as a road contractor while Blanche ran the general store that they purchased at Eastwood, Mo.  Austin left to serve in Alaska during WWII while Blanche continued to run the store.

After Austin returned from Alaska, two daughters were born, Lacreta and Elaine.  At that time, Austin started his own construction company, building roads all over Missouri while they made their home in Mountain Grove, Mo.

Besides being a wife and homemaker, Blanche's interests included sewing and reading.  She was very active in her church serving as Sunday school teacher, United Methodist Women chairman, and singing in the choir for decades.  She traveled extensively throughout Europe and always considered her time in the Holy Land very special, of which she loved sharing her memories.  She was very active in Bayview Club, an affiliate of Missouri Federated Women's Clubs, and hosted many young musicians in concert on their way to music contest. She loved sharing her home where these students could perform.

She had a very long, healthy life spanning the years from when she rode in horse and buggies to jets and hydrofoils, all of which she enjoyed.  Women earned the right to vote the year she was born and Woodrow Wilson was president.  She has lived under 17 presidents and was very active politically.

Mrs. Allcorn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Mabel Johnson Gregory; one brother, Hans Johnson; half-brothers, Lawrence and Stanley Johnson; and half-sister, Mary June Nelson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lacreta Wells of Cabool, Mo and Elaine Murr of Springfield, Mo.; half-sister, Nadine Barr of Hartville, Mo.; grandchildren, Mason (Melinda) Murr of West Plains, Mo; Stuart (Katy) Murr of Springfield, Mo; and Laura (Rob) Daugherty of Rogersville, Mo.  Her great grandchildren are Jane Murr and Brady Murr of Springfield, Mo and Kyle Daugherty and Ivah Daugherty of Rogersville, Mo.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Mema, as she was known to her family, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
