Obituary:

Burdette Gerald Nielsen, 85 of Cabool, MO passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Born at home on August 4, 1935, Burdette was raised in Minden, Nebraska. He moved to Bado community north of Cabool with his wife and kids in 1969.

Burdette served a total of 32 years in the United States Navy. In his lifetime he also worked a wide variety of other jobs such as farmer, saw mill operator, plumber and many more. But his greatest works were in the raising of his 5 children and the babysitting of his grandkids.

Burdette was a loving husband and shared 39 years of marriage with his wife Anna before cancer took her from this life in 1996. He had a deep faith and loved to discuss religion with anybody who was willing. He also loved traveling, meeting new people, woodworking and sitting on his front lawn reading while drinking Mickey's and coffee, LOTS of coffee.

Burdette was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Nielsen; his son, Walter Nielsen; his parents, Soren and Minnie Nielsen; his two brothers, Marvin Nielsen and Severin Nielsen and his sister, Amalia Hanneman. He is survived by his son, Soren Magner Nielsen and wife, Phyllis; his three daughters, Melody Rader and husband Riley, Betty Jarrett and husband, Benny and Joyce Daniel and husband Walter; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Burdette is loved and missed by his friends and family
