Obituary:

Catherine Ann (Rhodes) Rust was born on December 11, 1946 in Mtn. Grove, MO the daughter of Luther and Nadine (Parsons) Rhodes. She departed this life on July 25, 2013 at 11:48pm at the age of 66 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO surrounded by her family.

Cathy graduated from Cabool High School in 1964. In 1966 she married Norman Rust and to this union two children were born; a daughter, Tamara Lynn and a son, John Leland.

Cathy worked at Mayuga Medical Clinic, Brown Shoe and Paramount Headwear before becoming disabled with colon cancer in 1995. Over the next 18 years, she suffered from multiple health conditions but always managed to demonstrate a high level of courage, optimism and a never failing faith in Jesus Christ through it all. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior late one evening after discussing Salvations with her husband. Not long after; her mother, 2 sisters and brother were also saved and all baptized in Daniel's swimming hole.

Cathy was baptized a second time at Maness Memorial Baptist Church along with her granddaughter, Kayla and grandson, Brandon on New Year's Eve 1998. She was an active member of Maness Memorial Baptist Church in Cabool, and found great pleasure in participating in the choir, helping with VBS, preparing church bulletins, calendars and other secretarial tasks. Her Church Family meant the world to her and over the many years of battling various health problems, they remained a constant comfort and consistent source of prayer for her and her children.

Cathy had a deep and great faith in the Lord. This was clearly shown by the way she lived her life on a daily basis, by her brave outlook and by never complaining about the many trials and tribulations that were placed in front of her. She never felt sorry for herself and was rarely ever seen without a warm smile on her face. It was due to the great faith she had in the Lord, that she seen to her children, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren came to Church and VBS so that they too would grow to love Him—having their lives saved by knowing Jesus Christ at their Savior.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, camping at Montauk with her brother and sisters and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the apple of her eye.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Nadine; her brother, Luther Francis Rhodes and a granddaughter, Kodi Marie Rust. She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Rust of Cabool, MO; her son, John Rust of Mtn. Grove, MO; granddaughter, Kayla Campbell of Cabool, MO; grandsons, Brandon Campbell of Cabool and Logan Rusts of Mtn. Grove; 3 great grandchildren, Ava, Aurora and Jake of Cabool; sisters, Linda Glenn and husband, Steve of Cabool and Karen Smith and husband, Bob of Kingsville; sister-in-law, Julie Rhodes of Mtn. Grove; 8 nephews, 4 nieces and a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
