Obituary:

Chloe Aline (Knapp) Dreyer, 89, was born on April 17, 1924 in Cabool, MO the daughter of Robert Burdet and Gladys Opal (Hayes) Knapp. She passed from this world on September 23, 2013 at her home near Cabool, MO.

Chloe was the only daughter in the family with three brothers; she lived most of her youth in California. The family moved back to Missouri in 1943 and Chloe in 1945. She lived in New York for six years and then moved back to California for eight years working for Rich Field Oil before returning to Missouri.

Chloe was united in marriage to Dr. William F. Dreyer in 1964 and assisted him in his medical practice in Houston, MO. They both enjoyed hosting family meals and playing with their dachshunds, Max and Fritz. After the death of her husband in 1995, she decided to move to Cabool, back to the family farm to be closer to her brother, Lester. She spent her final years raising cows and spoiling horses with peppermints.

Though confined to a wheel chair the last few years, Chloe enjoyed watching the wildlife all about her, the deer and turkeys across the road, the birds and squirrels just outside the sliding glass door and the occasional visit from a road runner. She enjoyed visits from family and friends and her many telephone conversations. She especially looked forward to visits from her dear friend, Louise.

Chloe was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, which she always referred to him as William Francis; two brothers, Delmar and Robert Knapp; sister-in-law, Pauline Knapp; nephew, Bruce Knapp and a granddaughter, Sara Day. She is survived by one brother, Lester Knapp of Cabool; step son, Dr. Charles Dreyer and wife, Cindy of Houston, TX; step daughter, MaryAnne Merciez and husband, Jack of Ponca City, OK; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Knapp of Verdi, NV; nephews, Kerry Knapp and wife, Kyla of Flagstaff, AZ, Andy Knapp of Cabool, Mike Knapp and wife, Renae of Cabool, Roy Knapp and wife, Christine of Columbia, Craig Knapp of southern California; niece, Lani Duerr and husband, Larry of Verdi, NV; and ten great and eight great great nieces and nephews.
