IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dacey Kent
Hewett
October 9, 1958 – March 12, 2022
Dacey Kent Hewett, 63 of Vanzant, MO passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He was born on October 9, 1958 in Cabool, MO the son of Leroy and Mava (Rodgers) Hickey. Early in Dacey's life, his mother married Ben Hewett and he became his adopted father. He was saved and baptized during his teen years; he fully loved and faithfully followed God throughout his years. Dacey had a great relationship with his siblings and he dearly loved his Gramp Charlie and Granny Kate and always enjoyed spending time with them.
Dacey attended Dora High School and graduated with the class of 1977. He was united in marriage to Deanna Lynn Smith on September 21, 1978 and with this union he became a proud father to Darci LeAnn in 1981 and Denver Kent in 1984. He was a good husband and provider for his family. He hauled milk for over 40 years; he said, "That was his thang." He also enjoyed logging and sawmilling.
From a young age, Dacey enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and softball. A few of his favorite pastimes were sitting in the yard, traveling, horseback riding, driving the gigging boat and eating the fish. But most of all he thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his family and especially his five grandkids.
Dacey was always a man of few words but his actions spoke for him. He had a good sense of humor, honest, well respected and a slow and steady demeanor. After an extended fight with major health issues, Dacey departed this world with his family surrounding him. He told his family with energy, "I'm almost over that mountain" and making the motion with his hand; as he took his last breath he looked to the east. The family felt comfort knowing that he was going to rest high on that mountain with Jesus.
Dacey was preceded in death by his parents, Mava Lois and Ben Hewett; his father, Leroy Hickey; grandchild, baby Malam and his grandparents, Charlie Rodgers, Ethel Rodgers and Kate Rodgers. He is survived by his wife, Deanna of the home; his daughter, Darci Malam and husband, Tim; his son, Denver Kent Hewett and wife, Brittany; five grandchildren, Brennan, Braxton and Tinli Malam and Dawson Kent and Baylor Hewett; sisters, Nita and husband, Steve, Darlene and Tanya and husband, Joe; his brother, David; as well as several nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
