David Lee Abbott, 79 of Cabool, Missouri passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at his home following a battle with cancer. He was born on April 27, 1931 in Willow Springs, Missouri the son of William Rayford and Carrie Mae (Farrar) Abbott.

David grew up in Mtn. View, Missouri and worked as a farmhand with his father until he joined the US Marine Corps in 1951. David served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955 with two Purple Hearts; he loved the Marines and remained dedicated to them through out his life. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.

David always wanted to be a politician; but he always said he was to honest and straight forward. He enjoyed people and loved his work; but most of all he loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He worked at Town & Country Supermarket in Cabool to have something to do; he thought of everyone there as his second family. He was an honest and caring person that would help anyone that needed it.

David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carrie Abbott; his grandparents, Andrew and Susen Abbott; a sister, Catherine Abbott; brothers, Max, Don and Jack Abbott; nephews, Mike and Matt Abbott; and adopted son, Timothy Bohrer. He is survived by Alice Bohrer of the home; his four children, Rodney Abbott, Cindy Hobbs and husband, Timothy, Tony Abbott and wife, Susan and Algenia Abbott; grandchildren, Chelsey, Madison, Zack and Jacy Abbott, Tiffany Ramirez, Trenton Ledbetter, Brady Hobbs, Bailee, Kiva and Blaine Abbott; three adopted children, David Bohrer and wife, Janice, John Bohrer and wife, Gatha and Terry Bohrer; brother, Harley Abbott; sisters, Hazel Boughn and husband, Don, and Leona Freeze and husband, George; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

David will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him as he enters a new kingdom. He was a wonderful and dedicated father, grandfather and dear friend to many. We love you Dad.
