Born on November 10, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, David lived a life rooted in family and simple joys. He deeply loved his family and treasured the time spent with them. He found peace in the outdoors and great enjoyment in NASCAR, a passion he followed with enthusiasm for many years. A devoted history buff, David especially enjoyed visiting battlefields and other historical places, which he enjoyed exploring whenever he had the opportunity.

David is survived by his daughters, Dawnna Johnson and her husband Trey Mire, and Shereen Pettit and her husband Craig Pettit; his beloved grandson, Jonathon Pettit; his sister, Cathy Renshaw, and her husband Darrin Renshaw, along with their children Austin Renshaw and Jordan Renshaw; his sister, Cindy Johnson; his brother, John Johnson, his wife Vicky Johnson, and their children Justin Johnson and Shawna Johnson; and his brother-in-law, Mike Harrison, and his children Jason Harrison and Amanda Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Johnson; his mother, Shirley Johnson; his brothers, Michael Johnson and William “Bill” Johnson; and his sister, Janice Harrison.

David will be remembered for his love of family, his appreciation for the outdoors, his passion for history, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
