Obituary:

David L. Simpson, son of Wayne and Lavond (Smith) Simpson was born on July 6, 1959 in Springfield, MO and passed from this life on May 10, 2016 at his home near Mtn. Grove, MO at the age of 56 years, 10 months and 4 days.

David attended Mtn. Grove Schools until 1976 when he enlisted in the US Navy. He proudly served for 17 years, mostly on submarines and mine sweeper boats. He was honorably discharged in 1989 and returned back to Mtn. Grove where he worked alongside his father on the farm and in the cabinet shop and floor covering business until he was disabled by a stroke.

He was very active in projects such as a Stream Team that helped in preserving and keeping water streams clean; Sons of Confederate Organization and was instrumental in getting the monument on the square in honor of Confederate soldiers that fought in the battle at Mtn. Grove as well as getting monuments in Houston. David was an artist and craftsman, taking 1 st place ribbons for his artistry in wood burnings. He had done all types of wood crafts and macramé.

After returning home he continued his education, receiving his bachelor degree from Drury University. He lacked one semester completing his master's degree. David accepted the Lord at an early age at the Willow Springs Church (Bible School) and was baptized in Beaver Creek by Rev. Leland Hortan.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents; a nephew, David French and close friend, Randy Capps. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Lavond Simpson of Mtn. Grove, MO; his wife, Teresa of the home; 4 daughters, Kristy Pittman and husband, J.D. of Ray City, GA, Alyssa Vooris and husband, Jeff of NC, twins Arin Mustain and husband, Brandon of Oxford, NC and Amy Simpson and fiancée, Conner Honeycutt Wake of Forrest, NC; step daughter, Michelle Heckman of Springfield, MO that he raised as his own; 3 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; sister, Deborah French and husband, Morgan of Mtn. Grove, MO; his "other Mother" aunt, Marge Ragsdale; aunt, Evelyn Shaw; uncle, Frank Smith; nieces, Angie Capps of August, GA and Amy Walters and husband, Brian of Springfield, MO. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
