Obituary:

Delphia Jewell Kile, 88 of Cabool, MO passed away on Oct. 31, 2011 at the Kabul Nursing Home. She was born on Jan. 15, 1923 a twin in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of James Arley and Gladys Faye (Byrd) Smith. They moved to Cabool when Delphia was just a baby, then later moving to Elk Creek, making that their home for many years.

Delphia, with only an eighth grade education from Elk Creek School, was know for her unique penmanship. She went to work at the age of 12 at the Elk Creek Store for Dick Grisham. She worked for different merchants in Cabool as well as the Shoe Factory. She was a hard worker and dedicated mother to her five wonderful children, Lana, Jimmy, Terry, Kirby and Nancy.

She enjoyed sewing, making many quilts and wedding dresses; card games, dominoes and especially watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Delphia was preceded in death by her twin sister; her parents, Jim and Faye Smith; and a son-in-law, Danny Aldridge. She is survived by her 5 children, Lana Hensley of Cabool, MO, Jim and wife, Cheri of Billings, MO, Terry and friend, Carla of Gainsville, TX, Kirby and wife, Cathy of Stott City, MO and Nancy Foster and husband, Don of Houston, MO; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; as well as many friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Cabool Senior Center.
