Obituary:
Dennis Eugene Hunter, son of Aubrey and Ruth (Evans) Hunter was born on April 30, 1941 in Cabool, MO. He passed away on April 7, 2014 at the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, MO 23 days short of his 73rd birthday. His health had been declining for over a year and his family is relieved that he isn't suffering any longer.
Dennis attended Cabool Schools and was part of the Class of 1959. He lived his entire life in Cabool. He was a very hard worker his whole life; he spent many years working with his dad in the Y Gas Station and Tire Store. Dennis started hauling gas for Matherly Oil Company and eventually bought and renamed it Hunter Oil Company. As time passed he owned the El Rancho Truck Stop, Will-Co Disposal and Hunter Enterprises. He had very good "business sense" and was successful in all of these endeavors; for these he earned and was awarded the Cabool Chamber of Commerce "Man of the Year". He had a strong civic mind and was dedicated to his community's success; he was involved in many projects that have and will continue to benefit the area. Dennis was well liked and respected by many.
He spent many happy hours on the lake with friends and family. He loved boating with the grandchildren and pulling them on the tube. Many family vacations to the beach were taken together. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. Dennis didn't have any brothers, but he had a special longtime friend, Norman Rust that was like a brother.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Ruth Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Medora of the home; his #1 son, Dustin Hunter and wife, Sheila of Cabool, MO; daughter, Lisa Windsor and husband, Kurt of Cabool, MO; his sister, Helen Peabody of Cabool, MO; five grandchildren, Justin, Tucker, Audrey, Halle and Darian; two great grandchildren, Eli and Grace; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He leaves behind lots of good memories for his family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
