Obituary:

Dixie Lea Grosenbacher, 97 of Cabool, MO departed this life on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at her home. She was born October 18, 1923 to John and Louana May (Burns) Miley at Green City, MO.  She was the fifth of eight children.

Her father was a farmer and employed by Prudential Life Insurance, due to his employment the family moved often.  Dixie attended school at Green City, Milan, Blake, New Town and Gallatin all in Missouri.  She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1942.  She attended Platt Guard Business College in St. Joseph, MO.  It was there she was recruited and joined the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve known as SPARS.  She attended boot camp in West Palm Beach Florida then stationed at the Captain of the Port Office in Wilmington, North Carolina.  She served as secretary to the Officer in Charge as a Yeoman Second Class and they inspected Merchant Marine ships, Licensed Merchant Seaman.  They also held court martials for those who jumped ship or had other charges.  Her enlistment ended April 1946 and she returned to the home of her parents in the Impo-Dunn community.

On November 15, 2011 she proudly made an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. honoring World War II veterans.  This was a proud moment in her life and she was escorted by her good friend Helen Sharkey who served as an awesome escort.  Dixie glowingly told of visiting the WW II Memorial, other memorial sights and of course Arlington National Cemetery.

Dixie worked briefly in a cafeteria in Kansas City but city life was not for her and she returned home and in the fall of 1946 went to work for Producers Creamery in Cabool.   She worked there forty years, retiring in 1986.  In 1949 she married Clyde "Tuggle" McGeehee and they enjoyed 16 years of marriage before Tuggle's passing in 1965.

Dixie was baptized into Christ in 1947 and became a member of the Cabool Christian Church until 1995 when she transferred membership to the Cabool United Methodist Church where she remained a member until her death.

Between 1965 and 1995 Dixie enjoyed extensive traveling with some of her lady friends from Cabool.  These trips and time spent together with these close friends provided memories that remained close to Dixie's heart forever.  In 1995 she married Bill Grosenbacher and they enjoyed 23 years of marriage being active in the Over 39er's at the Cabool Methodist Church.  The also enjoyed dancing and their time spent together taking care of their Angus cattle.   Dixie was an active member for many years of the Republican Women in Texas County

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, John and May Miley; brothers, Leon, Keith, Warren, Conard and Bill; sisters, Leona and Elinor and her husbands, Clyde McGeehee and Bill Grosenbacher. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Shelda Stoker her niece with whom she was very close; her step children, Jeanette Smith of and husband, Roy of Pevely, Hank Grosenbacher and wife, Debbie of Edgar Springs and Barbara Moore and husband, Rick of Topeka, KS; as well as many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren by her step family.

Dixie was a very unselfish person, giving to others was just her way.  She loved God and professed openly and gladly her relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Dixie will be missed and those left behind can best honor her by striving to live as Dixie lived, to love as Dixie loved and to be obedient to God just as Dixie was.
