Donald William Flageolle was born on Sept. 6, 1931 in Stratton, CO the son of Charles and Amelia (Weiber) Flageolle. He left this world on Aug. 23, 2020 at the age of 88 years and 11 months.
Don and Bonita Eby "Bonnie" became an official couple at a dance in Wray, CO and were united in marriage on Nov. 10, 1951; to this union the 5 D's were born, Donna, Danny, Doris, Dellene and Duane "Buford". The family of seven made the move from Colorado to Cabool in August of 1968. Don and Bonnie would have celebrated their 69th anniversary this November.
Don was a devoted Catholic and attended the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cabool. He was an accomplished musician; he could play anything with strings and could even play an accordion. He had a beautiful voice. He used his marvelous voice to sing "Happy Birthday" to family; every year he would make "the call" to his kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends. Even though the call has been taken, it lives on.
Don was always able to take the edge off of any situation. "Did you go to town or take your lunch?", "I was better till I got over it" are just a few of the sayings Don was famous for. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, he helped anyone who needed it. He was a skilled carpenter and built houses and furniture.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Albert, Eddie and Joe Flageolle and two sisters, Dorothy Forester and Vera Hainer. He leaves behind his wife, Bonnie; 5 kids, Donna and husband, David Sullivan of Cabool, Danny Flageolle and wife, Linda of Cabool, Doris Henderson of Helotes, TX, Dellene and husband, Larry Nelson of Springfield and Duane "Buford" Flageolle and wife, Debbie of Aurora; brothers, Leonard Flageolle of Georgia and LeRoy Flageolle of Colorado; 15 grandkids, 26 great grandkids, 66 great great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the Kabul Nursing Home and Staff for the wonderful care provided to Don.
