Obituary:

Donald Gene Scott, son of the late Bernie and Fredia (Laster) Scott was born January 31, 1947 in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. He left this troubled world on June 28, 2015 at the age of 68.

Don was raised mostly in Mammoth Springs but the family traveled for jobs often during his youth. He has one sibling, a sister, Nova Peck who resides in Benton, Kentucky.

Don was united in marriage to Becky Ann Hardman on May 5, 1979 and to this union one child, a daughter, Courtney was born. Becky and Don built a house close to Bernie and Fredia. Don resided there until his health made it difficult for him to stay at home. He then went to Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs where he made many friends. By all reports everyone there enjoyed his jokes and pleasant personality.

Don was baptized by dear friend David Carroll in 2008. He attended Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.  Don worked at DFA for over 35 years, making many friends in the process.  For a time he was able to read books and do a little yard work, but the Parkinson's disease progressed quickly and it became difficult for him to continue his favorite hobbies.  He also liked watching the History Channel and surfing the web.  He was a long time Kansas City Chiefs fan even during the lean years.  He and Becky were able to attend several games when they were younger.  He always enjoyed attending the local sports events especially when Courtney was in school. Many of those young people were frequent welcome guests in their home.  After becoming a Christian, Don made a steadfast friend in Harry Richardson.  Harry visited Don every week while he was at the nursing home. They enjoyed discussing old cars and war stories.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Bernie and Fredia Scott, two brother-in-laws, one nephew-in-law and one nephew.  He is survived by his wife, Becky of the home; a daughter, Courtney and her husband, Kenny Owens; a grandson, Seth Owens; a sister, Nova Peck; his in-laws, Lester and Wanda Hardman; four brother-in-laws, four sister-in- laws, several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.  He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
