Obituary:

Dorothy Irene Parker, daughter of the late Arthur Leo and Blanche Fern Woodmansee was born January 16, 1922 in Volney, Iowa, the youngest of five children. She departed this life on Sunday, March 20, 2011 with her family at her side. Dorothy had been a resident of the Autumn Oaks Nursing Home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri after suffering a stroke in October 2010.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Glen Parker on June 19, 1941 in Cabool, Missouri. Seven children were born to this union. Glen and Dorothy lived a short while in Rolla, MO; moving then to Ann, Missouri and finally making Cabool their home.

Dorothy was an immersed believer in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Cabool United Methodist Church.

Dorothy spent many years babysitting in her home and was known as Granny to many children in Cabool. Glen was the manager of the Ozark Wilbert Vault Company in Cabool with Dorothy at his side as the company secretary and receptionist all the while babysitting and raising children of her own. Dorothy was an excellent cook and taught herself to decorate birthday and wedding cakes. She was well known for her butterscotch rolls and homemade donuts and would take orders and prepare them for the community as she was caring for a house full of kids. Her favorite pastime was crocheting for her family and friends.

After Glen's passing, Dorothy received her driver's license at the age of 60 and began employment outside her home. She worked at Wood Pro Cabinetry, Byron's market making sandwiches, in the kitchen at the Wright County Livestock Auction, at McDonald's and Wal-Mart in Mtn. Grove. Making new friends along the way. She was an amazing lady.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen on February 8, 1981; a son, Oliver Glen (Jack) Parker; a great grandson, Rance Levi Dotson; two sisters, Bonnie Songer and Margaret Bensen; and two brothers, John Woodmansee and Howard Woodmansee. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Gwen Foster and husband, John of Solo, MO, daughter, Louise Rader and husband, Jerry of Cabool, MO; son, Kenny Parker and wife, Gwen of Rolla, MO; daughter, Joyce McCall and husband, Larry of Cabool, MO; daughter, Becky Friend and husband, Webb of Mtn.
