Obituary:

Dorothy "Dot" Elaine Stark, 77 of Cabool, MO passed away on January 7, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.  She was born on September 19, 1941, one of six children of Johnny and Mildred (Ellis) Oxley.  At an early age the Oxley sisters started singing gospel songs at churches, auditoriums and even on the radio traveling all over the state. At one of their performances when Dot was 13, she accepted the Lord into her heart and she was later baptized in Hamilton Creek. She also sang in the choir at school, was always on the honor roll and graduated from Cabool High School in 1959.

After high school, Dot decided to pursue a career in design in Chicago but the big city was just not for her so she returned to Cabool and married Ronnie Stark on February 24, 1962 and to this union they welcomed their first born, daughter, Terri Lynn in 1965 and 8 years later their son, Darin who they supported across the country following his motocross racing.  The family were also avid campers and you could often find them at the lake fishing or skiing.

Dot worked at Brown Shoe Company in Cabool and then the local fabric shop which she eventually purchased and owned for 20 years.  Dot was very talented with sewing and design—clothes and countless quilts which will forever be cherished by family.  Fabric Shop memories are shared by many.

After living in a mobile home and owning the local trailer park, Dot and Ronnie took on designing and building their dream home in the country.  Dot put her green thumb to work in the back yard creating a beautiful garden that she loved to maintain every spring and summer. She had such a knack and love for beautiful plants & flowers.

Dot loved watching basketball. She followed The Chicago bulls in the 90's but she really loved college basketball, especially the SEC conference. She could name the coaches and the schools they coached at before, most of the players and even where they grew up.  She rarely missed a good college basketball game.

It would be impossible to find a single soul that could say an unkind word about Dot.  As her grandson recently said, "she didn't have a mean bone in her body."  Dot was kind, selfless, thoughtful, soft spoken, smart, quirky, hilarious (both intentionally and unintentionally) and beautiful inside and out—but modest if you ever told her so.

Sadly, Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Johnny Oxley; her beloved daughter, Terri; sisters, Edna Yarnall and Carole Caffey all of whom she is now reunited with in heaven.  She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Stark and her son, Darin and his wife, Stacy all of Cabool.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy: Michael Smith of Willard and Alyssa and husband, Brett Boyd of Mtn. Grove blessed Dot with her great grandchildren, Kaylee & Jett; siblings, Jeanette and husband, Buster Yeargin of Gallatin, TN, Ron Oxley of Heber Springs, AR, and Donnella and husband, Alan Monroe of Meridianville, AL in addition to countless extended family members including cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws just to name a few.
