Dorothy Lee Taylor, 87 of Cabool, MO passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO. She entered this world on August 3, 1932 the only child of Ira and Fannie Mae (Pettigrew) Freeman. She grew up to be a beautiful, hardworking, strong-willed woman with a heart of Gold.
Dorothy married Archie Benjamin West, Jr. and to this union four daughters were born, Joan, Marcia, Patty and Betty. This marriage didn't last but she and Ben always remained friends. She later met the love of her life, Thurman Hutson Taylor; they were married on October 14, 1960 and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. To this union their son, Kenneth was born.
Dorothy worked at the Brown Shoe Company for 33 years until retiring due to the company closing. Unable to sit idle, she started working at the Kabul Nursing Home and then at Carousel Gifts. Later, Dorothy found a job she loved, volunteering at the Texas County Food Pantry, unfortunately she had to quit due to a shattered shoulder. After suffering a stroke, she became a resident at the Kabul Nursing Home. Dorothy loved all the personnel there and being treated like a queen. She never gave up on her goal to be able to go home but God had a greater plan for her. Our lives changed forever on May 24 and Heaven now has another beautiful angel.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Mikey Telika and twin grandsons, Michael and Eri. She is now reunited with them in heaven; along with her best friend who was like a sister, June Edwards. She is survived by her husband, Thurman; four daughters, Joan Campbell and Ron Gaston, Marcia Young and husband, Jeff, Patty Rader and husband, Dennis and Betty Katzur and husband, Wayne; one son, Kenneth Hutson Taylor and Julie Sparks; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Dorothy is never to be forgotten but forever missed, she was dearly loved by her family and friends and will live on in all the hearts she touched.
