Besides being with the love of her life, Bro. Ira; Sister Ellen's occupation primarily consisted of being a homemaker & mother. She never had a drivers' license. She could grow a garden second to none. She made clothes for her children and cooked and canned for the family. After God called Bro. Ira into His ministry she was a very supportive pastor's wife. She loved playing the piano and her guitar as well as singing. They pastored numerous churches in the area, held many street corner meetings and revivals and spread God's love and word to many people.
In the latter part of her life, she and Bro. Ira enjoyed reading their bibles together, listening to singing and preaching on the radio, and she enjoyed playing cross-word puzzles. She also enjoyed Charles aggravating her by patting the top of her head; the visits from Gerald & Rosey, Cheryl and her family as well as Chad and Jennifer; and anytime her only daughter, Linda, and her family could visit. When Charolette was around her grandma, Ellen knew she was in wonderful hands.
