Elmer Edmund Conant, 68 of Cabool, MO passed in the comfort of his home after a long battle with cancer with his wife of 18 years, Debra by his side. He was born on May 26, 1952 in Eugene, OR the oldest of eight children of Hollis Elwin and Shirley Ann (Seybold) Conant.
Elmer was a retired service veteran, signing up at the age of 17 with the Marine Corp and later joining the Navy. He finally retired from the US Navy on February 1, 2002.
Elmer moved to Cabool, MO in May of 2001 from Eugene, OR. He was an active life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 473 of Cabool where he was able to meet with and reminisce with other veterans. He assisted with the VFW Bingo in Cabool for years.
Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Hollis; a sister, Donna Jackson and a daughter, Jenny. He is survived by his wife, Debra of the home; his mother, Shirley; his daughters, Valery and Andrea; his sons, Robert and Tommy; brothers, Hollis Conant, Jr, Roger Conant and Wayne King; sisters, Dawn Conant Bear and Marie King; as well as several grandchildren. He loved them all very much.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and a Naval ceremony will be held to return him to the sea. If you enjoy your freedom, Thank a Vet; God Bless them all.
