Elmer Ray Smith, 66 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home.  He was born on January 11, 1951 in Sullivan, MO the son of Elmer George and Melba Pauline (Helms) Smith.  He was known by everyone as "Junior".

Junior attended school in Herculaneum, MO and some time at Cabool, MO.  He was then united in marriage to Francis Louise Hicks on June 27, 1981 in Reno, NV.  He supported his family by working in carpentry jobs and construction; he also helped Francis in operating a group home facility in Mtn. Grove, MO.  Together, they enjoyed traveling, visiting the casino, gardening, fishing and turkey and deer hunting.

Junior made a profession of his faith in God and was baptized at home on February 29, 2016.

Junior was preceded in death by his son, Sonny Lee Smith; his parents; two sisters, Bonnie West and Mary Lou Blattner and two brothers, Sonny Lee Smith and Bud Zane Smith.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Francis of the home; daughter, Melissa Holt and husband, Danny of Mtn. Grove; six sisters, Sherrill Blair and Danny Akers of Ironton, MO, Kay Daniels and husband, Bill of Falcon, MO, Charolette Rutledge and husband, Randy of Mtn. Grove, Sandy Lane and Mike Allen of Mtn. Grove;  Loretta Crisp and husband, Dennis of Lebanon, MO and Verla Elliott Underwood and husband, Edgar of Mtn. Grove; three brothers, Bill Birch and wife, Sherri of Middlebrook, MO, Roy "Linnie" Smith of Mtn. Grove and Rodney Smith and wife, Marilyn of Mtn. Grove; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends who will all miss him very much.  His brother, Rodney, joined him and their many loved ones waiting for them just a couple of hours later.
