Obituary

Eric Pernel Mohler, 61, went to see his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2025 at his home in Elk Creek, Missouri. Eric was born March 19, 1963 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri to Delmar "Deb" and Ruthie (McLaughlin) Mohler.

Eric and his brother Martin, grew up on the family farm in Elk Creek. Where the boys loved living and working on the farm with their dad. After Martin left the farm for trade school, Eric continued living and working on the family farm. Eric loved the black angus breed and bought his first 5 heifers when he was in high school.

Eric graduated from Cabool High School in 1981 and following graduation, was hired at Brown Shoe Company where he worked alongside with his mother and brother. Until the factory closed in 1992. After the factory closed Eric went back to school to study Woodworking and Cabinetry at Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri. After Eric graduated from Missouri S&T he went back to Rolla and taught Cabinetmaking at Rolla Technical Institute for several years. Eric became well known for his beautiful cabinetry and other original pieces of furniture that he made for many people in the area.

During Eric's life he was a member of the American Angus Association, and the Missouri Angus Association. He was also an active member of the Heart of the Ozarks Angus Association where he served on the board and held many offices, including President. In the years of Eric's membership to these organizations he was known to donate his beautiful creations for various fundraisers of the Association. Eric also clerked all of the Association sales until his health wouldn't allow him to.

Eric loved living in the country, he loved working with his show bulls, which he won several prizes with. He also loved working the land, hunting, and fishing. Eric was also a great cook, and loved playing cards with his family and friends. Eric loved teaching his niece's about the farm and all the animals that lived there. He was more than an uncle to his oldest niece, he was her best friend.

Eric was a quiet man who loved spending time in his workshop, or with his animals. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Eric was saved on March 2, 2023. He loved quiet time reading his uncle's Bible, and spending time with the Lord. On the day of Eric's salvation there were many family members rejoicing in heaven, and some still here on earth. Even though Eric's passed, his family is rejoicing that we will see him again one day.

Eric was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Orie and Effie Mohler and Newt and Media McLaughlin; his parents, Delmar (Deb) and Ruthie (McLaughlin) Mohler and several aunts and uncles.  Eric is survived by his brother, Martin Mohler of Cabool; his nieces, Jennefier Mohler and Amanda Mohler; a great nephew, Matthew Mohler and many family and friends.
