Obituary:

Ethel Maye Salisbury Holliday, 95 of Cabool, MO passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Kabul Nursing Home. She was born on June 25, 1919 near Stultz, MO the 9th of 11 children of John and Ollie Mae (Wall) Smith.

Ethel completed school through the 8th grade and began her working career. Through her lifetime she was a nannie, worked in restaurants, retail at Car-Vels, the shoe factory and a wonderful caregiver at the Kabul Nursing Home.

Ethel was united in marriage to Joe Salisbury in 1943 and to this union two daughters, Elizabeth and Judy were born.

She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, crocheting and visiting with family and friends; she never met a stranger and could of made friends with a rock. Ethel lived independently until the age of 93, at that time she became a resident of the Kabul Nursing Home where she remained until her passing.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Salisbury in 1969; her brothers, Harry Smith and wife, Belle, Roy Smith and wife, Berna, Edgar Smith and wife, Lucille, Johnny Smith and wife, Lee, Ray Smith and Wayne Smith; sisters, Fay Apperson and husband, Claude, Fern Hamilton and husband, Arch and Mable Blankenship and husband, Joe. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Hoag and husband, Clay of Fallbrook, CA and Judy Polito and husband, Tom of Mission Viejo, CA; 4 grandchildren, Dana Parks and husband Thad, Jill Ward and husband, Mark Klotzbucher, Jeff Ward and wife, Erin and Tiffany Coyne and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Rowdy and Jake Bossard, Thad Parks, Joseph and Judd Ward, Rock and Eden Ward and Charlie and Vivienne Coyne; nieces and nephews that were like adopted children, Merlene Raleigh, Beverly Andrus, Bill Hamilton and Jack Salisbury; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
