IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances "Carol"
Deeds
July 3, 1940 – May 8, 2015
Frances Carol Deeds, 74 of Cabool, MO left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, MO. On the hot afternoon of July 3, 1940, in the town of Richmond, MO a baby girl was born. Frances Carol, the only child of Otha Raymond and Bertha Frances (Claypole) Deeds lived the first five and a half years of her life with her parents in Richmond. The family then moved to a farm near Rayville, MO where Carol attended Pleasant Valley rural school for all of her elementary schooling.
In July of 1954, Carol and her parents made the move to south Missouri, near Cabool, where she has remained. Carol graduated from Cabool High School with the class of 1957. She attended junior college at The School of the Ozarks and then transferred to SMSU in Springfield, where she earned her BS in Education and held a lifetime teaching certificate for the state of Missouri.
Carol decided at a young age that she wanted to be a teacher. She began her teaching career at the age of twenty. She taught the first four years in a rural school, which she enjoyed to the fullest. She retired after teaching thirty-four years, the last twenty-nine at Hartville Elementary School. She loved working with children. Besides teaching thirty-four years in the public schools, substitute teaching for ten more years, teaching various Sunday School classes and Bible School classes, she also worked as a playground director with the Springfield Park Board for seven summers. In later years, she volunteered at Cabool Senior Center in various ways.
Carol was saved at a young age and at the time of her death; she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cabool. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and was an avid bowler; having bowled in the Piney River Bowling Association for forty-two years until her health forced her to quit. She held various league and association offices during her bowling career.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by cousins and many, many friends who will miss her greatly.
