Obituary:
Mrs. Georgia Mae Gaw, 97 of Centralia, MO and formerly of Cabool, MO passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Centralia, MO. She was born on August 17, 1914 south of Cabool, the daughter of Albert and Maude (Reed) Canterbury. She accepted Jesus as her savior at the Pine Flat Church.
Georgia was united in marriage to Louis Bryant Gaw on Oct. 12, 1935 in Houston, MO; to this union a daughter, Debbie was born. She worked most of her life at home and on the farm, she then went to work at the Kabul Nursing Home. She lived the majority of her life in or near Cabool until December of 2000 when she moved to Columbia, MO. Georgia continued to live independently until November of 2010 when her health warranted a move to Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Centralia, MO where she was well loved and cared for; many a time she would burst out in song whether it was day time or middle of the night singing "When the Roll is Called up Yonder".
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; four brothers, Rex, Eidsel, Ed and Leo Canterbury and one sister, Cleo Gaw. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Palis and husband, Tom of Columbia, MO; a grandson, Chris Palis and wife Jennifer of Garden City, MO; great grandchildren, Mia, Marlie and Miles; nieces, Wanda Thompson and husband, Bob, Linda Morgan and husband, Marion and Velma Rosseau and husband, Frank; nephew, James Canterbury and wife, Janet. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
