Obituary:
Gordon G. Crosbie, 86 of Cabool, MO passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO. He was born on December 2, 1926 of Quaker parents, Edward and Stella Crosbie on the Cedar Dell farm near Ida Grove, Iowa. Health wise at birth, he was the best baby of three brothers; however, within two months he commenced his fight for life with a fever for over two years. No modern miracle drugs were available! First he learned to roll then finally at four years of age \he got upright and walked many a mile afterwards.
Gordon loved to help raise Shorthorn Cattle, looking forward to each spring's new calf crop; he loved the farm in spite of all the work. He thought the world of her uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Even though he never married he loved children.
After the folks passing he made his home with Louise and Roger for over 25 years. He would wait for the daily after breakfast Bible reading. Irregardless of the name above the church house door he was always ready for Sunday worship service wherever Louise and Roger were attending. The three of them were accepted into membership by the Cabool Church of the Brethren. Gordon volunteered several years at the SOS Food Pantry carrying, sorting and just helping out here and there.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stella Crosbie; his oldest brother, Owen and his nephew, Calvin Crosbie. He is survived by his younger brother, Roger Crosbie and wife, Louise; sister-in-law, Mildred Crosbie; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
