Obituary:

Gregory "Greg" Donald Bennett (a.k.a. "The Satellite Guy"), 65, of Cabool, MO, (formerly of Anaheim, CA), passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Brooke Haven Healthcare in West Plains, MO, following a long, valiant battle with cancer. He was the loving husband, best friend, and soulmate of Mattie Woods.

Greg was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 28, 1949. He spent some time living with his grandparents in Rapid City, South Dakota where his first job was as a cave guide in the Wind Cave National Park. He loved to go caving. He excelled at basketball and track in high school and won many trophies. He learned to fix cars, build houses, and learned all about electricity from his father.

Greg served in the U.S. Army as a Communications Technician and loved every minute of it. He obtained an expert class amateur radio license. He was an excellent marksman but could not bring himself to hunt. He loved to watch the deer in the front yard and the foxes in the backyard. He had a special bond with animals. Whenever he would install a satellite dish, the cat or dog would always talk to him and follow him around, much to the amusement and surprise of the owner.

Greg worked at Fox Studios as a Satellite Engineer for over 23 years. He loved his job and was very good at it. Greg could fix anything and could answer any question (which often drove most of us a little nuts). He was a true jack of all trades and a master of many. Greg loved to read and watch movies and even taught himself to speak and understand Russian. He was an active member of the Masonic Temple of Mountain Grove, Missouri and of the American Legion Post in Houston, Missouri. Greg loved to bowl and enjoyed the companionship of his fellow bowlers. He would do anything for you if he could. Up to the end, he was more worried about me and getting home to fix a few things than he was worried about himself. But that was my Greg. He always put me first.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Bennett and Joyce (Kight) Bennett and his uncle, Clare Bennett. He is survived by his son, Brian Bennett and grandchildren, Angela and Michael Bennett; his beloved daughter, Lisa (Bennett) Morrow and husband, Bryan Morrow and grandchildren Gabriel and Haley Morrow; his uncle, Donald Bennett; sister, Dawn Davis and husband, Jeff Davis; his brothers, Scott Bennett, Chris Bennett and Speed Bennett. He will be missed by his loving family in California, Jayson Shippy, wife, Chiaki Shippy and granddaughters, Mana and Mei, Juelene Close and John Murray, by all his friends at Fox Studios, and by all his friends in the Ozarks.

We would like to give a special thank you to the Ozarks Medical Center Emergency Room Staff and Doctors, to the Ozarks Medical Center ICU and Hospital staff, and the Brooke Haven Healthcare Rehab nursing staff for the excellent care they gave Greg while he was under their care. They were truly the most caring and helpful hospital and nursing home staff we have ever met and we appreciate all they did.

Per Greg's wishes, there will be no service or funeral. I hope you will all keep him in your hearts and thoughts, I know he will always be in mine.
