Obituary:

Harold Wayne Mead, 73 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Friday, August 8, 201 4 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born on May 23, 1941 in Texas County, MO the son of Wayne and Velma (Davis) Mead.

Harold met Shirley Maxine McGowen in 1957 and they were united in marriage on Oct. 25, 1958 by Rev. Homar Sutten. They attended Fowler Church after they were married until moving to Tulsa, OK where Harold worked in manufacturing. After the birth of Tena, they moved to Kansas City, MO where Harold started doing flooring with his brothers and worked for Bob Mead. Tammie was born in 1960 and shortly after that he got his real estate and insurance license. In 1964, the growing family moved to a farm 4 miles north of Mtn. Grove and added two more children, Debbie and Sonny. They lived there for 22 years, during this time Harold had a car lot and a real estate company named Mead and Gravens in Cabool as well as a real estate office in Mtn. Grove.

Harold's health started failing in 1995 and he was advised to take an early retirement. Harold and Shirley remodeled several houses after that and took the winters off in Arizona. They then returned to the Kansas City area for 12 years before moving back to Mtn. Grove where they remained until his passing. Harold and Shirley were married just short of 58 years; he was the love of Shirley's life, her best friend and the best father anyone could ask for. He was a man who never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. His most precious moments were spending time with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will always remember his homemade noodles. He will truly be missed by many.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Velma Mead; his children, Debbie, Sonny and Tena; brothers, Dennis and Lester; nephews, Randy Mead and Les Wayne Mead; niece, Sara Fox and a sister-in-law, Diane Mead. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; daughter, Tammie; sister, Loretta Fox; brothers, Dean and Lonnie Mead; sister, Cindy Mead; grandchildren, Jeramy, Holly, Mandy, Daniel, Michael, Megan and Skylar; great grandchildren, Jacolbie, Kylee, Jay Jay, Patience, MacKenzie, Sarah and Leland; as well as many other relatives and friends that will dearly miss him.
