Born in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Fred and Edith (French) Shannon, he married Doris Faye Cope on August 13, 1965 in Mountain Grove, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years; one daughter, Stephanie (Shannon) Andrews of East Peoria; one son, Steve (Renee) Shannon of Cabool, Missouri; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon (Paul) Beilman of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Lou (Randy) Bennett of Mountain Grove, Missouri and one brother, Lewis (Claudia) Shannon of Shawnee, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Monrhowe Aaron; one sister, Daisy Moore and one brother, John Shannon.

Harold had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 43 years in the transmission dept. retiring in 2008. He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.
