James Thomas Cook, 66 of St. Robert, MO passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 2, 2018 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia after many years of battling cancer. He was born on January 27 th , 1952 in East St. Louis, IL to Uhlan "Bud" and Lilly (Sullivan) Cook.
Jim, as he was affectionately called by family and close friends, spent his early life split between East St. Louis, Illinois and Cabool, Mo. After graduating from Cabool High School in 1970, he explored several occupations in and around Texas County. In 1972, he joined the United States Army and continued to serve for the next twenty years. Jim retired from military service in 1992 and returned to Cabool with his wife and their two daughters. The next few years were spent as an over the road truck driver, husband, and father. After a car accident in 2005, he returned St. Robert with his wife and lived there for the remaining years of his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Uhlan Cook; his sisters, Alice "Irene" Manning and Mary Woods; his brother, John Cook; brothers-in-law, Junior Manning and Lester Cantrell and a great- nephew, Cade Allen Cook. He is survived by his mother, Lily Cook (Cabool, MO); wife, Sena (Clark) Cook (St. Robert, MO); daughters, Christy Cook (Mtn. Grove) and Jessica (Steven) Monroe (Warsaw, MO); his sisters, Linda Cantrell (Mtn. Grove) and Katherine Cook (Mtn. Grove); a brother, Richard (Karen) Cook (Jefferson City); Grandsons, Nathaniel Portlock and Shawn Gregory Jr and granddaughters, Savannah and Cayleigh Monroe.
