Obituary:

John Theodore Kosmicke was born in Knoxville, Nebraska, to the late Katie Smithenna Kosmicke and the late Theordore Kosmicke on Feb. 21, 1927.  He passed from this earth peacefully at home on Nov.2, 2018, with family by his side and a horse grazing below his bedroom window.  He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Wells Kosmicke, a son John Kevin Kosmicke, two brothers, Albert and wife Geradine Kosmicke, and Harold and wife Lucille Kosmicke, and a sister, Rose and husband Ivan Lisle. He left behind a daughter Kim Kosmicke,  grandchildren: Aaron and wife Hali Delight,  Kyndra and husband Jesse  Bishop,  Sarah and husband Alex Roberts,  Shelina Barnes and Joshua Barnes and Great- grand children:  Dixie and  Teal Bishop, Zoey Roberts, and Jayden and Taylor Warkentin. Nieces: Joan Phillips, Gloria Tidwell, and Janie McGrath.  Nephews: Ralph Kosmicke, Russel  Kosmicke, Jim Tidwell and Charlie Tidwell.

John began each day on his knees in prayer to our Father.  He attended the 7 ^th Day Advent Church.  He loved life and was very active until recently.  He gave up his Hazardous Materials driver's license when he turned 91, but kept his CDL.  He often teased that he worked his way through grade school on his brother's dairy farm. He fell in love with operating heavy equipment when he was young and this became his life long career.  He served in the Calvary Branch of the Army in Japan, Afterwards, he worked on the pipeline in Alaska.  It was there he began riding motorcycles and obtained his pilot's license.  After serving in the military he went to diesel mechanic school for a year.   He met the love of his life, Mary, in Santa Monica, California while at Fred Astaire dance lessons.    To this union two children were born, Kim and Kevin.  He and Mary attended classes at a local junior college and obtained their real estate licenses. He purchased a brand new VW bug in 1958 and drove it for 29 years.   In 1976, they left the San Fernando Valley area and moved to Springville, Calif.  They enjoyed life in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains.    In 1994, they decided to leave California and came to Missouri with longtime friends, Sven and Deloris Grimstad. Each bought a ranch not far apart.   Mary and John often traveled the United States in their motor home, seeing the sights, attending camp meetings, and making new friends.

John always had a thirst for knowledge.  He believed in eating healthy foods and caring for his own health by diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements.  He loved to read informative books and share that information with family and friends.  He was involved with People for the USA, and other property rights groups.  He wrote numerous letters to the editors.    He loved his ranch and feeding the animals.  He cut almost all of his own firewood until he was 87.  He enjoyed driving his tractor and seeing what it could do.  He rode his first bull when he was 70.  He lived with the attitude and the ingenuity that he could do anything, and would amaze us with things that he would repair or accomplish by himself. He took pride that at 90 he could still climb into the 3 ton overhead grain bin and shovel down feed.

Twelve years ago he took counseling on forgiveness, which changed his entire life.  He understood the Forgiveness of the Father and his life motto became "Forgiveness is the Way",
