Joyce Imogene (Hutchison) Krambeck, born on April 25, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska, the youngest daughter of Herman and Grace Hutchison, passed away on April 21, 2017. Joyce attended school in Louisville, NE graduating in 1953. On August 2, 1953, she was married to Lauren Krambeck and enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Lauren and Joyce lived in Ash Lake, MN until Lauren was drafted into the Army in 1956. He was stationed in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Joyce lived in an apartment in Alexandria, Virginia, spending time with other military wives and cleaning houses for airline pilots'. She enjoyed seeing all the sights in Washington DC. After the army, they returned to Minnesota where they became active in the Lutheran Church as youth leaders.
In 1973, while looking for a new place to live, Lauren and Joyce stopped for the night at the Wells Motel in Cabool and discovered the owner wanted to sell. The Krambecks purchased the motel which Joyce operated for over 20 years. Joyce raised two children: James Krambeck of Cabool, MO. and Marlene Gray of McPherson Kansas.
Joyce was a servant too many. She enjoyed taking care of those in need. During her time running the Wells Motel, she becoming caretaker for one of her long-term customers. After retiring from the motel, Lauren and Joyce moved to town and bought a home with 3 apartments on the property. Even in retirement she stayed busy cleaning apartments, visiting with tenants, caring for grandkids and great grandkids, taking care of her home, yard and husband. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, crochet, and tending to her yard and flowers.
Joyce is preceded in death by her Father, Herman; mother, Grace and sister, Wanda. She is survived by her husband, Lauren of Cabool; Son, James Krambeck and wife Lana of Cabool; Daughter, Marlene Gray and husband Stephen of McPherson, KS; Brother, Norman Hutchison and wife Marcy of Round Hill, Virginia; Sister Bonnie Taylor and husband Frank of Newton, KS. She leaves behind 9 nieces & nephews, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Joyce was a lover of people and loved by many. She will be dearly missed.
