April 18, 1927 – March 13, 2014
Juanita R. Armstrong, 86 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Kabul Nursing Home. She was born on April 18, 1927 in Greenville, MO the daughter of Fred and Martha (Kiger) Clark. She grew up in Greenville, MO and Carbondale, IL before moving to Mtn. Grove area as a teenager.
Juanita was united in marriage to Pete Armstrong on October 18, 1951 in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union a son, Lynn was born. Juanita and Pete operated a dairy farm for many years. She would tell of milking 13 cows by hand when they were first married. Later, they upgraded to an electric surge milking system where milk was collected into a milking machine and then carried by hand to be strained into a 10 gallon cream can. When the cream can was full it was stored in a water filled cooler until the milkman came to pick it up. They then upgraded to a pipeline milking system, milk went directly to a large tank; no more carrying heavy pails of milk. After many years of dairying they ran a beef cattle operation until 2003.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Clark; her husband of 52 years, Pete; sisters, June Montgomery, Nora Montgomery, Edna Johnson, Bertha Grogan, Virgie Hicks, Lola Hasseltine Smith and Wanda McKinley; brothers, Everett Clark, Frank Clark and Amiel Clark. She is survived by her son, Lynn Martin Armstrong; sister-in-laws, Veta Clark and Susie Bruce; a brother-in-law, Ivil Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who will truly miss her. Our Lord bestowed many blessings on Juanita and she always remembered to give him praise. Juanita was saved when she was a teenager and attended church at the Hamilton Creek Baptist Church until her health prevented her.
