Larry Dean Mead, 79 of Cabool, MO passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016. He was born at home, in the Oak Grove Community near Cabool, MO on February 9, 1937 the son of Wayne and Velma (Davis) Mead. He was brought into this world with the help of his grandmother and lived a long and happy life surrounded by friends and family.

As a young boy, Dean attended school in a small one room school house and was a member of the Oak Grove Church. He was baptized by the age of eleven in Hamilton Creek, the same place that all of his siblings were baptized.   He had what many would refer to as the "perfect childhood", one that could be compared to the "Little House on the Prairie". He lived in ca cozy house filled with the love of amazing parents and the laughter of seven happy children.

Dean was the oldest of seven children, which taught him from a very young age what it meant to work hard. After attending Houston High School, Dean moved to Kansas City, MO where he had Mead Towing for several years; he also had a tree service he operated with his brothers, Lester and Dennis. Dean met Carol Sue Searcy in 1984 and they were united in marriage on August 14, 1987.

Over his lifetime, he owned several businesses, including car dealerships, junk yards and the towing business. In 1999, Dean and Susie moved to Cabool and opened L& D Motors. He had a passion for cars and helping people find a car to get them around town. He specialized in "buy here, pay here", allowing people to get a vehicle that would otherwise not be able to. He often gave people more chances than they deserved, being both one of his strengths and weaknesses, but one of the reasons we all loved him so very much.

Dean had a very strong bond with God, and could either be found at church on Sunday or in front of the TV with his cup of coffee watching Joel Osteen. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off of his back. He gave without expecting anything in return. Dean always had a smile on his face and had a laugh that could fill a room. His love of life was contagious and he was the perfect example of what a good man should be. He and his wife, Susie had a wonderful marriage and an unbreakable bond of love. They could always be found side by side, content with only the company of each other. They took great pride in their home and business and were always busy doing something. He loved taking long country drives and would take anyone along.

Dean was preceded in death by his loving parents, Wayne and Velma Mead and his brothers, Harold, Dennis and Lester Mead. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Susie of the home; daughter, Candy Tanner and husband, John; son, Larry Dean Mead, Jr. and wife, Dorothy; daughter, Christa McLaughlin and husband, Rocky; grandchildren, Joshua Tanner, Dakota Mead, Darrion McLaughlin, Gracie McLaughlin, Maycie McLaughlin and Josh McLaughlin; great grandchildren, Colby and Corbyn Ebert and Nathan, Bryce and Zoey Tanner; one brother, Lonnie Mead and two sisters, Loretta and Cindy Mead.

Dean had a spirit that was like no other, and he will be truly missed by all. Words can't express how grateful and lucky we are to have had him in our lives.
