Obituary:

Lauren Henry Krambeck "Smiley", 88 of Cabool, MO was born on Feb. 21, 1933 in Omaha, NE the son of Henry and Thelma (Post) Krambeck. He went to meet his Savior on March 29, 2021 at his daughters home in McPherson, KS.

Lauren was raised in Springfield, NE where he worked on the family farm until he graduated high school in 1951. After graduation the family moved to Ash Lake in Northern Minnesota. Two years later, he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Hutchison. While in Minnesota, Lauren started a successful logging business and did carpentry work on the side. In 1956, he was drafted into the Army and served until 1958 and remained in the reserves.

In 1967, Lauren and Joyce celebrated the birth of their first child, James Henry and in 1969 they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Marlene Ruth. The family moved to Cabool, MO in 1973, where they owned and operated the Wells Motel for over 25 years. Lauren worked as a carpenter for a short time until he started driving a truck. He drove professionally for over 25 years until retiring in 1998.

After retirement, Lauren enjoyed his friends, family and spending time at the local coffee shop. He had lived with his daughter and family the past year and a half where he peacefully passed away.

Lauren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce and a brother, Dwayne (Barney) Krambeck. He is survived by his son, James Krambeck and wife, Lana of Cabool, MO; his daughter, Marlene Gray and husband, Steve of McPherson, KS; his sister, Donna Bergman of Cook, MN; 9 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
