Obituary:
Lillie Mae Grice, age 82, of Houston, Missouri passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, at the St. John's Regional Health Center.
She was born January 28, 1929, in Sayre, Oklahoma, daughter of Robert Idel and Rosie Brown Idel. Lillie was a long resident of Cache, Oklahoma, where she raised four children and leaves many life long friends.
She was united in marriage to Rudy Grice in December of 1967. Lillie experienced her dream to travel outside the United States by accompanying her husband, US Army 1st Sgt. William R. Grice to Germany for his last tour of duty in 1968.
In 1974, Lillie and Rudy moved to the Cabool/Houston area where she quickly won the reputation of being a fantastic cook. Highlights of her cooking career were experienced while she was employed by the Ozark Department of the Aging as well as schools and nursing homes in area. However, her greatest joy came from cooking for a houseful of family. Among her other interests were horseback trail riding on her beloved horse Appy, quilting and dancing.
She was a member of the Houston Chapter of Red Hat Mamas, Republican Women and the TCMH Hospital Auxiliary.
Lillie will be remembered as a devoted, loving grandmother to Sharla Neugebauer as well as 15 other grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is survived by three brothers: Floyd Lee, Frankie Myers, George Myers; one sister: Hazel Zink; four children: Bobby Jackson, Loretta Neugebauer, Louella Simmons, Paula Hightower; husband Rudy Grice and three stepsons: Alan Grice, Michael Grice, and Douglas Grice.
