Obituary:

MICHAEL A. GROESCHNER, previously of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2011 at his home in Mtn. Grove, MO with his wife Bonnie at his side. He was 69.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Cecile (Ford) Groeschner, his brothers John Groeschner (Marie) of Jacksonville FL & Raymond Groeschner of Honolulu HI, sisters Janis Owens of Lakewood CO and Lois Salvatore (Guy) of Belvidere NC, children Eileen Kaether and Allen Groeschner and their mother Pamela Groeschner, all from Stamford CT.

In his earlier days, "Mike" was honored to have served in the Air Force, which also enabled him to pursue his love of music by playing the clarinet and saxophone in the AF band. This was followed by a career in lithography at Graphic Color Plate.

He was an avid outdoorsman who eagerly looked forward to hunting season and passionately applied his skills as a deer hunter, archer, fisherman and golfer.

His innate thirst for knowledge and applied sciences allowed him to shine as a self-taught computer guru, Ham radio / CB hander and email connoisseur.

Later in life, he shifted gears, embracing his easy-going nature by endlessly tending to his ever growing vegetable garden, entrancing himself in a vast collection of paperback novels and savoring the precious moments spent in spirited conversation with his loved ones both near and far. He will forever be remembered for his quirky, but lovable ways that touched us all.

A private wake was held on 9/24/11 in Cabool, MO. www.egcfuneralhome.com . Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at the First Congregational Church of Stamford, 1 Walton Place Stamford, CT 06901 http://fccstamford.org/contact.php on 10/1/11 at 2:00 pm followed by a private reception. AHA Donations and flowers can be arranged through the church.
