Obituary:

Early morning of June 17, 2014, God extended an invitation for one of his earthly angels to come home. After dealing with complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Nadine Wilma (Barnes) Rogers peacefully passed from this life into eternal life at age 82.

Nadine was born on June 21, 1931 in the Topaz community to Otis A. and Myrtle (Brown) Barnes. She resided in Douglas County and attended Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church throughout her life. Because Nadine began attending church as an infant she became a believer in Christ at a young age. Nadine attended Mt. Ararat School (grades 1-8) and graduated from Cabool High School in 1949. Nadine then continued on to receive her teaching certificate.

Nadine was united in marriage to Verlin E. Rogers on March 24, 1953. From this union they became the proud parents of Deborah, Clayton and Edwin. Another gift from God in the name of Verl Dean was taken from them on November 27, 1957.

Nadine prioritized her responsibilities: first as a servant of God, second as a wife, third as a mother, and fourth as a teacher and mentor. As a Christian she dedicated her life to a personal relationship with Christ and involvement with her church. As a wife she was her husband's soulmate and helper, and she enjoyed 61 years of marriage. As a mother she instilled in her children the core values that were so important to her. She supported her children, not only in academics, but also in extra-curricular activities during their school years. More importantly, she prayed daily for their safekeeping and protection. She was silently proud of their accomplishments and the way they lived their lives. As a teacher she taught many students during her tenure with various schools in the area. Her most rewarding moments as a teacher were at the State School in Mtn. Grove, MO. Nadine was also deeply involved in her community. Over the years she assisted in various capacities with the Up'n At't 4-H Club. She was a long time member of the Better Homemaker's Club, and she enjoyed quilting and the JOY Club dinner gatherings.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, Verlin of the home and three children and their families: Deborah Summers and children, Allyson and Sean of Lee's Summit, MO; Clayton and Kelley Rogers and children, Casey and Cameron of Camdenton, MO; Edwin and Missey Rogers and children, Ethan and Miranda of Mtn. Grove, MO. Nadine also leaves her only remaining sibling and dear sister: Claudine Nelson of Windermere, FL.
