Larry Nathaniel Jarrett, 28 of Cabool, MO was born on February 2, 1993 at 1:02pm in West Plains, MO the son of Charles Rex Elliott and Tammy (Stark) Jarrett McKinley. He passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2021 in Licking, MO. Family and close friends knew him as Nathan which was his preferred name.
When Nathan was just an infant Robby Bowling entered his life and although Rob was not his biological father you would not know it for, they were inseparable; Rob has always been "Dad" to him and cherished every minute they had together.
Nathan was the most perfect baby, he never fussed or cried, but only to be cared for or comforted. By the time he was a toddler he made up for lost time. (Everyone's shins can attest to that!) At the age of two Nathan would go to the shop with Rob. Rob would give Nathan a carburetor or some other piece of car part to disassemble and Nathan would sit for hours taking it apart which seemed to be the only time Nathan was ever still.
When Nathan's little sister, Bridgette was born he was very protective of her and referred to her as "his baby". On Bridgette's first checkup Nathan told me "that mean old man better never touch my baby again or I will shoot him". It was such a shock, but also, I was very proud that he was that protective of her. I knew from that day on Bridgette would be protected by her big brother. When I would lay Bridgette down for a nap, he would lay beside her to "watch" her and he would fall asleep next to her. Make no mistake, even though he was little brother to Heather and Hilary he kept a close eye on them too.
As Nathan got older the girls would dress him up in dresses and such; he thought it was the funniest thing. Nathan was always up for whatever his sisters wanted to do, even if it meant getting in trouble with mom. It didn't matter what they were doing or where they were Nathan always had everyone laughing or he made himself laugh over the silliest things. His most favorite things to say when he was growing up was "chicken butt" and "poop" everything was about poop. His best friends growing up were mostly his cousins; where you saw one, you most likely saw them all.
Nathan enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, target practicing, working on old cars and trucks and spending time with his nieces and nephews and teaching them how to do these things. Family was the most important to Nathan along with his companions; his dogs Fraya and Nelly. Most often if you saw one, you would see the other. Nathans most prized possessions were his guns and his tools; he wouldn't be himself if he hadn't owned either.
Nathan was always very humble, he never liked to be fussed over and would often complain if he found out anyone spent a lot of money on gifts for him, unless of course it was a gun, ammo or tools. He was also always helping others out whether it was a few bucks, a gallon of gas, some type of mechanic job or any other thing was asked of him.
Nathan kept a small circle of friends and was very loyal to them. His friend, Cory Sanders had always been like family, but became even more family when he married Bridgette. Michael Loman has been more of family than Nathan's longtime friend and has spent so many hours at our house that we just automatically thought of him as one of ours. Of course, when Aaron Morris married into the family, he and Nathan became inseparable as well. Nathan had many more friends and acquaintances, but you could always find any one of these guys hanging out with Nathan at any given time. What you saw was always what you got with him, and what you saw; if you were lucky enough to be his friend was a delightful, generous, easy going, fun loving human being.
When Nathan was a teenager Ray McKinley became Nathan's step-father. They spent time hunting and fishing or just sitting around talking about various things with an occasional firearm testing.
Nathan was baptized on December 22, 2002 at General Baptist Church by Pastor Darrel Thornton. He had so much goodness, such a capacity to bring happiness to others, but most importantly Nathan had a deep love for his family.
Nathan was preceded in death by his biological father, Rex; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; 3 aunts, Faye, Connie and Betty; 1 uncle, Lester and his beloved cousin, Cheyenne. He is survived by his mother, Tammy McKinley and husband, Ray of Cabool; his Dad, Robby Bowling and wife, Shannon of Elk Creek; sisters, Heather Jarrett of Mtn. Grove, Hilary Morris and husband of Licking, Bridgette Sanders and husband, Cory of Mtn. Grove, Teascha Hulbert and husband, Kevin of Mtn.
