Omar Olan Reed also fondly known as "Dooter" was born on April 13, 1940 the son of John Oscar and Verna May (Crossland) Reed/Jones. He passed away on March 17, 2019 at 2:46AM at the age of 78 in the comfort of his daughters home surrounded by the love of family.
Dooter's loves were fishing at Udall Lake, deer hunting and tinkering with anything that didn't run; making the item he was working on half way work. His children often called this "dooterizing". He was pretty handy at tinkering on boat motors, often having a random show mobile around when the grandkids were small. Living in Missouri we always have a skiff of snow to go sledding on. Dooter was always prepared for fun at a moment's notice.
He married the loved of his life, Sharon Kay Bennett at the young age of 21. She tamed him for a few years making him the father of 4 wonderful children, John Roy, Loretta Kaye, Tena Marie and Patricia Lynn. Life was sweet but it caught up with them and in 1977 text divorced for a short period of time. Then came their 5th child, Tammy Louise and they remarried, staying together for a total of 52 years until life once again played a hand in their game.
Dooter loved his children and grandchildren; whether he was teaching them how to fish or how to love unconditionally about the things that are near and dear to our heart. Fishing was his hobby, he could catch a big ol'striper and not stretch the truth about just how big or how long it took to land that thing only because there was a picture mamma took so he could back up his story. Daddy loved to dance, anyone he danced with could tell you he was light on his feet and could lead an angel to dance.
Full of life and always a bundle of fun he could prank you and love you with the same heart.
Dooter was baptized in February 1970 at Hamilton Creek surrounded by family. Life caught up with him, never forgetting the Lord, he was brought back to the Lord shortly before his passing. he was a peace with his Lord and Savior; he was ready to go home and be with his loved ones that had already gone before.
Dooter was preceded in death by his parents, John and Verna Reed; step father, Charles Jones; siblings, Ruth Bradley, Ruby Nixon, Otis Reed, Oscar Reed and Otho Henry Reed and a granddaughter, Ladonna Faye Shelton. He is survived by his children, John Roy, Loretta Kaye, Tena Marie, Patricia Lynn and Tammy Louise; the love of his life, Sharon Reed; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends.
