Phyllis Beatrice Jeanne McFarland Sand, 97 departed this life on March 2, 2023 in Farmington, AR. She was born on Aug. 1, 1925 in Bowling Green, OH the daughter of Gale Virgil and Marjorie Mae Marguerite Augusta Beatrice (Copus) McFarland.

At the tender age of 3 years old she was hospitalized with Polio; this would impact her for the rest of her life. She was very determined and had a strong inner strength which helped her succeed in her many accomplishments. She went on to complete nurses training and graduated with an RN degree from Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. During this time she was in the Nursing Cadet program during WWII.

In 1950, she married Earl L. Sand and lived and raised 5 children in Oceola, OH. She went to work with the Crawford County Health Department and finished her career working in the office of Dr. Robert L. Solt. Her retirement years were spent on Lake Erie, Myrtle Beach and wintering in Florida. In 1995 they moved to Cabool and after Earl passed she move to Arkansas to live with Emily and Jim.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; son, Eric Sand; daughter-in-law, Palestine Sand and siblings, Robert McFarland, Douglas McFarland, Janet Weininger, Polly Cress and Jerry McFarland. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Jeanne (Gordon) of Cabool, MO, Michael Lavern (Tammy) of Marion, OH, Cynthia Jeanne (Sonny) of Bucyrus, OH and Emily Jeanne (Jim Terry) of Farmington, AR; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She leaves may great memories for her family, some of which are a strong sense of love for her family, love of music and great adoration of babies. Memories of Phyllis/Mom will be cherished by her family and other for many years to come. With Love, "The Pebbles"
