Richard Michael Champ, age 62, of Mountain Grove Missouri passed away surrounded by family at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on Sunday, July 2, 2017.  He was born on Oct. 19, 1954 in Newport News, VA the son of Richard and Esther (Dobbs) Champ of Mtn. Grove, MO.

Mike grew up in Mountain Grove and enjoyed small town life. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1972 and attended McPherson Junior College. Mike married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Trumble of Gainesville, Missouri on August 6, 1977. He had two beautiful daughters, Mikaela Byerley of Mountain Grove and Kristy Champ of Raytown, Missouri. Mike loved his family and friends. He had a passion for being outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening and working with cattle.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Esther Champ.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two daughters, Mikaela Byerley and her husband, Sonny and Kristy Champ; one brother, David Champ and his wife, Patti; five grandkids, Makenna Byerley, Jakob Norman, Ethan Norman, Elizabeth Byerley, Samantha Fuller and her husband, Justin and one great granddaughter, Bay Fuller; two nephews, Travis Alcorn and his wife, Allie and Shawn Smith and his wife, Kaela and their son, Chaseton; as well as many other family and friends.

The family will host a graveside service on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Willow Springs Cemetery north of Mountain Grove on 95 Highway.
