Rita Marie Lucky, 87 of Cabool, MO departed this life on August 10, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO with her daughters by her side. She was born on July 22, 1938 in Lewistown, PA the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth O'Mara and one of five children.
She grew up in Groton, CT and graduated from Fitch High School in 1956 where she excelled in her business classes.
After graduating, she worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, which is a primary builder for submarines for the US Navy for over 100 years.
In her free time, she took pleasure in spending days at the Groton Beach with neighbors and friends. Rita and her sisters were participants of the Sir Host which supported servicemen with dancing and entertainment in the 1950's.
She was formerly married to Richard Lucky with whom she raised their three daughters, Cindy, Tina and Vicki.
After living in numerous states, Rita and her family settled in Cabool in 1977. While residing in Cabool she worked for Brad Ellsworth's Law Office as a legal secretary for over 40 years. After retiring, she continued to do secretarial work from home for Brad until the age of 83.
Rita enjoyed supporting her community by attending football games and school events. She loved gardening and watching the local wildlife.
Weekends were the highlight of her week. Most Saturdays, her daughter, Vicki and granddaughter, Darby would come over and they would spend the day playing board games, cards and completing puzzles. Sundays were spent with her church family at the Cabool First Methodist Church.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Mary Dickson, Ann Cremins, Larry O'Mara, Mike Staubly and her daughter, Tina Frazee. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Jacobson and husband, Matt and Vicki Lucky-Powell and husband, Todd; Tina's husband, Darrel Frazee; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Ethan, Neil, Emily, Keely, Kensey and Darby; seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Taleah, Rayna, Henry, Uli, Abe and Noah; nieces and nephews, Susan, Rick, Tom, Steve, Chris, Betsy, Kevin, Alyssa, Amy and Patrick.
Rita was a ray of sunshine and always had a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed by many. Mom, you made our lives beautiful. We will love you forever.
